Online meeting with an American specialist in inclusive education
Yesterday was an online consultation with Carol Quirk, an expert from the United States on inclusive education, and the directors and coordinators of public schools in Astana and Aktobe. There were many mutual questions and points for discussion.
There are no easy ways to progress. And this is exactly about the process of inclusion in our country. Carol has already been to Astana and met with teachers of schools participating in the project to create conditions for including a special child in the general educational process. Again and again, the importance of the roles of the director and the school administration in the preparation for inclusion was noted. The director of the school who is ready to work towards inclusion is the key to success.
Inclusion requires changes in our attitude, behavior, and in the system of values. Are we ready for these changes and to deal with them effectively? The participants tried to find answers to these questions.
